Portadown came within a whisker of taking Qarabag to extra time in tonights 2nd round 2nd leg Europa League match in Azerbaijan. The Ports, without leading scorer Richard Lecky, soaked up everything that Qarabag could muster in the first 45 mins before Kevin Braniff scored against the run of play in 71 mins to put the Ports 1- up. Another goal from the Ports would have forced the game into extra time, however it was the hosts who burst the part-timers dream with an equalising goal 7 mins from normal time through that man Ismayilov again. Despite their best efforts the Ports couldn't snatch that vital second goal and so their European adventure ended 3-2 in what has been an exciting few weeks. Once again a superb result from the Ports and one that should give the players a huge boost ahead of next months Premier League kick off.
