Portadowns impressive run of results against the top teams came to an abrupt halt this evening as they offered little opposition to an impressive Linfield who put 5 goals past them with no reply.  This was without doubt the Ports worst display of the season with no player coming out of the game with any credit.  Make no mistake, Linfield worked hard for their victory, but Portadown contributed to their own downfall with some inept defending and poor passing.

Ports Boss Ronnie McFall will urge his players to quickly forget this game and concentrate on the important Irish Cup game against Crusaders on Saturday and the next league fixture away to Coleraine on Tuesday.  After tonights showing, its going to take a 100% improvement to beat Crusaders on their plastic pitch, something the Ports have yet to achieve this season having already lost there in the League earlier in the season.
