Portadown 2 Ballymena Utd 2

An emotional day for both clubs as they remembered club stalwarts and past heroes who had past away in the last 7 days.  Portadown fans stood and clapped as current heroes Neil McCafferty and Kevin Braniff appeared at the team line ups before kick-off with a large photo of former Ports midfielder Davy Mills who died last weekend in tragic circumstances.

The game itself, failed to…

Cliftonville 3 Portadown 2

The Ports came up against top of the table Cliftonville this afternoon, with most Ports fans fearing the worst following a string of poor results over recent weeks.  However, despite being without influential playmaker Neil McCafferty, the Ports more than held their own against a slick home side in the first half and were unlucky to go in 1 down at the break through a deflected free kick from…

Ballinamallard 2 Portadown 0

Portadown, minus McCafferty Braniff and O’Hara, looked a pale shadow of the team which played so well in Europe this season as they struggled to make any headway against a well organised and resilient Ballinamallard team at Ferney Park this afternoon.

The first half was a dour battle with neither team creating anything in the way of goal scoring chances as both defences held firm.   T…
