Glenavon Rally in Support of Clarkies Charity

There was an appreciative round of applause from fans of both clubs at last nights mid-Ulster Derby as Glenavon made a donation of £100 to the Checkemlads Charity who are providing support to Ports midfielder Richard Clarke during his treatment for testicular cancer.   Clarkes Portadown teammate Tim Mouncey received the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Glenavon 2 Portadown 2

Honours were even after this hard fought mid-Ulster Derby at Mourneview Park tonight.  The Ports opened the scoring  in the 25th minute through captain Keith O’Hara who timed his run through the Glenavon defence perfectly to slot the ball past Coleman.  The lead was short-lived however as Glenavon equalised when ex-Ports player Conor Hagan flicked on a Kyle Neill free into the goalmouth. …

Dungannon Swifts 1 Portadown 1

Portadowns defensive woes reappeared once again tonight as they failed to shut up shop after Darren Murray had put them ahead after 80 minutes at Stangmore Park.  The Ports had worked hard to grind down a resolute home defence in which keeper Jonny Curran was outstanding.  Murray scored through a ruck of players after a Ports free kick was blocked by the Dungannon wall and the loose ball was…

Portadown 3 Coleraine 4

Portadown produced some of the finest football seen at Shamrock Park for years as they completely dominated Coleraine for the first 72 minutes of this game but still managed to end up as the losing side.  The Ports looked home and dry after goals from McNeill, Braniff and Mackle had given them a comfortable 3-nil lead.  But Coleraine dug deep, and with the Ports midfielders tiring from t…

Donegal Celtic 1 Portadown 1

After the excitement of the 6 goal thriller at Shamrock Park last week, today’s match turned out to be a dour battle of attrition with little evidence of free flowing football from either side in the bright sunlight of Suffolk Road.   The Ports looked out of sorts and never were allowed to settle by a battling home side who fought for every loose ball.  The Ports definitely weren’t keen on…
