Glentoran 3 Portadown 0

Penultimate match of the season and it looks like players minds were already on the summer break after what has been a long and torturous journey this last 9 months.   Whilst the Ports had plenty of possession, they failed to make it count where it matters, in the final third of the pitch.  At the same time, the back four always looked uncomfortable to the pace of the Glentoran attack and…

The dream is finally over as the Port went down fighting to the end against Ards at Clandeboye Park tonight.  Ards opened the scoring early on through McAllister then Breen equalised before the break from a header.  Ards hit back immediately after the break through Shevlin and Keke before Ferris pulled one back from the penalty spot after Soares was pulled back in the box.  McMullan was…

Portadown 0 Dungannon 1

Peter McMahon scored the only goal of the game on the half hour mark when he fired past McCaughey from close range.  Overall, the Ports battled hard, but lacked any real cutting edge up front with Marcio Soares playing the lone striker role once again.  Despite the defeat, the Ports can take some comfort from the performances of some of the younger players to whom Niall Currie gav…
