Ports Finish Season on their Travels to Newry and Glentoran Portadown travel to Newry City this Saturday, hoping to put behind them recent disappointing form and a poor run of results which has left both fans and management bewildered. Following two embarrassing defeats at home to Coleraine and near rivals Glenavon, everyone will be hoping that the players can lift themselves for the last two fixtures of this years League campaign which ends on the 26th April with another tough away encounter at Glentoran. Fans are reminded that the Glentoran fixture is all ticket and fans can purchase tickets from club secretary at the Newry game or throughout next week from Shamrock Park. The Ports welcome near-neighbours Glenavon tomorrow to Shamrock Park in the second mid-Ulster derby of the season. Despite the 23-point gap between the two teams in the League, tomorrows fixture could prove to be a lot closer than recent derby results as Glenavon are showing signs that they may be turning the corner under new manager Terry Cochrane. The Ports in contrast will be licking their wounds after last weeks embarrassing defeat at the hands of Coleraine. So tomorrows fixture takes on greater significance as both sets of supporters will want to have the bragging rights come 4:45pm despite everything else that happens in the course of a season. |

McKeown Placed on Transfer List Ports defender Gareth McKeown has been placed on the transfer list by mutual agreement with the club. Gareth, who joined the Ports from Lisburn Distillery at the beginning of February 2007 has one year of his contract still to run with the Ports. Gareth has proven very versatile in what has been a difficult season for the Ports with injuries and suspensions requiring the big defender to play in various defensive positions as well as midfield. The club will listen to offers from interested clubs. A number of whom have already been in touch today. |

Young Ports Suffer Heartbreak in Final Portadown III pushed Lisburn Distillery III all the way in the final of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup which was played last night at Mourneview Park. The young Ports lead for most of the match after a fine goal by Mark Teggart, but failed to capitalise on a number of other chances in front of goal and were punished when Distillery equalised late into the second half with a penalty, forcing the game into extra time. Despite their best efforts neither team could break the deadlock and the match went to penalties with Distillery coming out on top 4-3. Overall a great effort from the young Ports team who had the consolation of having defender Chris Coleman named man of the match. |

Ports Duo Suspended from Mon 17th March Ports striker Aime Koudou has been suspended for 2 games and defender Keith O'Hara receives a one match suspension from Monday 17th March. It means Aime and Keith must sit out the home game against Donegal Celtic and Aime also misses the Easter Tuesday game away to Institute. Its a cruel blow for the Ivory Coast striker who was sent off against Cliftonville for alleged use of the arm against Davy McAlinden. |

Portadown are on the road again this weekend as they take on Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park on Saturday. Ports fans will be glad to see the return of Aime Koudou who was sorely missed last week against Lisburn Distillery. The Ports need to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of recent weeks and fans will be hoping that they can return to form for the last few matches of the league campaign. |

Ports Purchase New Defibrillator Portadown's Michael McCloskey (physio) and new club doctor Dr Sean McDermott recently took delivery of a heart defibrillator to add to their kit in the event of a medical emergency. With recent high profile deaths in young sports stars, as a result of cardiac failure, the Ports squad have recently undergone intensive tests at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown. Hopefully the new kit will never be required, but at least its re-assurance that its readily available in an emergency situation. |

Ports Injury Concerns Mount Ports boss Ronnie McFall selection nightmare worsened for this weekends important clash with Lisburn Distillery with the news that club captain John Convery is rated extremely doubtful with a hamstring injury. He joins midfielder Peter Kennedy and young striker Jordan Baker who were struck down with influenza during the week. With 4 strikers already ruled out for this fixture, the Ports boss will be keeping his fingers crossed that he has no more withdrawals in the next 24 hours from an already decimated squad. |

6th March 2008 This Weekend - Pass on the Passion This weekend sees Campaign 3 of the IFA backed, Pass On The Passion campaign. Local schools have been offered tickets to enable kids to gain free admission to Shamrock Park for this Saturday’s Carnegie Premier League match with Lisburn Distillery, when accompanied with a paying adult. We hope all the kids have an enjoyable day and become regular followers of the Ports. Forthcoming campaigns will be revealed in the near future. Finally Portadown FC would like to thank all at the IFA’s Marketing Dept. for their hard work in the organisation of these campaigns. |

Huge Match this Weekend The Ports go into this weekends crunch match with Lisburn Distillery without 4 key players, in fact the main strikeforce of the team. Kevin Braniff, Andy Smith and Aime Koudou are all suspended and Gary McCutcheon is ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury. Not the best preparation preparing to meet your closest rivals currently sitting 5 points above us. Ports boss Ronnie McFall knows this is a crucial game, if the Ports are to have any realistic hope of taking at least 4th place in the Carnegie Premier League so he may be forced to bring in some of the young guns from the reserves and give them a chance to show what they're capable off. |

Portadown Thirds 2-0 Linfield Rangers Portadown Thirds have tonight notched up a massive victory in the Harry Cavan Semi-Final against Linfield Rangers. Goals from Mark Teggart (pictured) and Jordan Baker put the young Ports through to the final where they will face Lisburn Distillery III's. With pre-tournament favourites Cliftonville Strollers and Linfield Rangers both losing at the semi final stage the Mark Porter coached side will be confident going into the final. |

McCutcheon Out for Rest of Season Ports Scottish striker Gary McCutcheon has been ruled out for the rest of this season with a ruptured medial and lateral ligament in his left knee. Its a massive blow to the popular Scot who was stretchered off towards the end of the Irish Cup match against Cliftonville on Saturday. The injury happened following a crude challenge from behind by Cliftonville's George McMullan and it was clear from his immediate reaction that McCutcheon had been badly hurt. Gary has to undergo further tests to assess if there has been any damage to his cruciate ligament. If the tests show that the cruciate has been damaged, he could be out of action for considerably longer. All associated with the club wish Gary a full and speedy recovery. |
