Portadown 1 Rangers 1

Portadowns early season form continued as they battled back from a goal down to earn a hard fought draw with a talented young Rangers outfit at Shamrock Park this afternoon.  It was an even contest throughout, with Rangers having the clearer cut chances but failing to convert whilst the Ports played some neat football at times, but failed to penetrate a resolute Rangers back four.

Rangers scored  just after the half hour mark when Andrew Dallas side footed home from close range in front of goal.  Portadown had to wait until 5 minutes from the end of normal time before they equalised through Amuneke who cut in from the right before slotting the ball through Bates legs at his near post.

Portadown were well worth their draw and overall it was a great workout for both teams as they prepare for the long season ahead.
