Pre-Season Friendly – Portadown 2 Coleraine 3

Excellent work out this afternoon in very humid conditions saw the new Ports lose narrowly to an experienced and well organised Coleraine lineup at Shamrock Park.  Portadown took the lead through Kevin Amuneke who turned his marker before clipping the ball past the advancing Chris Johns.  Coleraine then replied with 3 close range goals through McLaughlin and McGonigle (2) before the Ports hit back through Chris Lavery with a well taken goal from a similar position to Amuneke’s effort.

3-2 at the break, but with both teams making use of the available subs, the second half failed to live up to the first and both teams more or less cancelled each other out.  Overall, Ports manager will be pleased with the effort and commitment of his players who had to work hard against a slick Coleraine outfit who already have a good pre-season behind them plus a couple of European fixtures. More of the same against Warrenpoint on Tuesday night and the manager and the fans will be looking forward to the start of the new season with renewed enthusiasm and anticipation.
