Portadown 0 Glenavon 5
Portadowns mini revival floundered at home today against a rampant Glenavon team who ripped them apart in a second half blitz that few teams could have coped with. Joel Cooper was the star for Glenavon and he gave the Ports defense a torrid time all afternoon with his pace and direct running. The Ports started strongly with Garrett and Foley both going close before Glenavon gradually took over. First Jack Duffin saved a Moorhouse penalty after 25 mins, then Bates went close with Duffin again saving with his feet before Martyn scored the opener clipping the ball home from close range 6 mins before the break.
The second half saw Glenavon pick up where they left off when Bates worked his way across from the right before firing a curling shot from 15 yards which Duffin did well to turn round the post. However the second goal soon arrived and it was that man Cooper who scored it after dancing his way through the Ports porous defense to side foot home in the 60th minute. Eight minutes later Cooper, totally unmarked, doubled his tally with a volley from the back post. 10 minutes later Singleton tapped home from close range to make it 4 and Sykes made it 5 with a looping header in the 80th minute to make it a thoroughly miserable day for the Ports and one which they’ll quickly want to forget.
