Glenavon–Portadown
2 - 1
Portadown will be wondering how they aren’t in the draw for the next round of the JJB Irish Cup after todays match at Mourneview Park ended 2-1 in favour of close rivals Glenavon. The Ports dominated large parts of the match and hit the post twice and crossbar once with home keeper Davy O’Hare saving them on numerous other occasions. However, the old adage if you don’t take your chances you’ll be punished, and how true that was as Brian McCaul and Gary Hamilton scored two quick goals after the break to shock the Ports.
Substitute Conor McCluskey pulled back a consolation goal for the Ports as they pressed forward in the last fifteen minutes, but it wasn’t our day and Glenavon held out for the win.
