Crusaders–Portadown
0 - 3
Can this season get any better Portadown fans are asking? To take 12 points of Belfast big 4 clubs of recent seasons was unthinkable at the start of this season, but the Ports have now done that and how. Today the Ports showed that they have the mettle to stand up and be counted. They matched Crusaders physically all over the park and finished them off superbly with two wonderful strikes from Kevin Braniff and another from Matty Tipton.
The manner of the performance was impressive. McCafferty was immense in midfield and Ramsey and Gartland solid in defence. Miskelly came to the rescue on a couple of occasions when Crusaders managed to break through, but the big man made wonderful blocks to keep another clean sheet.
Braniff and Tipton kept the home defenders on their toes the whole 90 mins and were a constant threat every time they got the ball.
Make no mistake, this was a richly deserved victory against a tough playing team that has been consistently in the top three teams in the league for this last 4-5 years.
