Portadown–Dungannon Swifts
2 - 1
Goals from Wes Boyle and Keving Braniff helped edge out Dungannon Swifts tonight in a tough encounter at Shamrock Park. Dungannon opened the scoring through a Shea Campbell header in the 7th minute, but Boyle equalised with a glancing header from a Breen throw-in the 19th minute before Braniff hammered home the eventual winner in the 28th minute after a neat layoff from Mouncey.
Braniff missed a number of chances in the second half including a penalty after Leckey has held back in the box, but Morgan pulled off a fine save to deny him. Minutes later Morgan came to Dungannons rescue again when Braniff raced from the halfway line chased by Ward, but saw the keeper pull of another save. At the other end of the pitch the Ports were living very dangerously and had Breen to thank for clearing two goal bound efforts of the line within seconds.
A nailbiting finish but not a match that will live long in the memory. However its another welcome 3 points for the Ports which keeps them ticking over nicely at the top of the league table along with Linfield.
